Can you tell me the average mileage we should have before we would need new brakes. We have a little less than 20,000 miles on our Hyundai and were charged $600 for new brakes
For 20000 miles the cheap brakes probably about right, get some good ceramics for maybe 20 bucks more and get doulble outta yer ride. And if you got charged 600 dollars for brakes you better had gotten new front and rear top of the line brakes put on. 600 for some standard pads, I'll do yer brakes next time for $30 plus cost of pads. Total of less than $100 guaranteed.
yea they overcharged you the only way it should have been 600.00 is if they replaced the whole system not just the pads..... and at 20000 miles it should have been a pad swap and maybe rotors .... my advice is to make a mark on your rotors next time with a sharpie permanent marker and dont tell the shop.. that way you can be sure that they actually changed them.... there are places that just swap pads and then charge you for rotors calipers etc.... also ask to see the old parts when they are done BUT ask before they begin the work it helps keep them honest........
